Sam Brownback announced his candidacy on January 20th in Topeka, Kansas. I don't have an exact time so using 10:00 am. 

Sam Brownback will appeal to conservative women and military minded men. Though he is not a current front runner, if enough women get behind his campaign he could do better than people think. However, I doubt he'll get to top office.

Keep in mind that this isn't an exact time so we cannot consider the importance of angles, house positions or the POF. The Sun is in Aquarius as it will be for a few of the upcoming announcements. Moon conjunct Venus (or recently separating) shows his strongest appeal will be among conservative women and the Christian right in general. In this chart the women (represented by Venus) are conservative because Venus and the Moon (people in general) are both applying to an opposition with Saturn. 

Sam Brownback announced on a day that Mars conjunct Pluto by antiscia (see box lower right) was still within 1 degree of exact. Mars-Pluto connections are typically very negative. In this context I think he could appeal to a military minded voter especially among men. I made this comment before seeing that "gun rights" are important enough to make a top list of issues on his website but this fits the chart quite well.

Bottom line: Moon opposed Saturn and Mars conjunct Pluto are both very negative aspects. This campaign will not be successful. However the applying Jupiter square Uranus (the only candidate with this in their official announcement) may be good for some kind of sudden surprise and a more positive than expected dark horse run.
